Annotation
A single piece of feedback attached to a specific spot in the work under review: an element on a page, a region of an image, or a place in a PDF.
An annotation bundles the remark with its location. Where a plain comment says "the heading is too small", an annotation says it while pointing at that heading, usually with a screenshot and metadata attached. That precision is what makes feedback resolvable by someone who was not in the conversation.
In review tools, annotations typically carry a status such as open or resolved, an author, and a thread of replies. Treating each annotation as a small ticket, opened, discussed, fixed, and closed, is what turns a wall of feedback into a working process.
