Terms of Service

Last updated: July 14, 2026

These terms govern your use of layernote, the visual review platform available at layernote.io. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you use layernote on behalf of a company, you agree on that company’s behalf and confirm you’re authorised to do so.

1. The service

layernote lets you and your clients pin feedback on live websites, Figma projects, and static files, compare a live site against its design, and hand differences to a coding agent or team member to fix. We may add, change, or remove features as the product evolves; if we remove something material to your plan, we’ll let you know ahead of time.

2. Accounts

You need an account to create projects. Keep your credentials confidential: you’re responsible for activity under your account. Guests you invite by link can comment without an account; you’re responsible for who you share links with.

3. Trials, plans, and billing

New accounts start with a 14-day free trial. No credit card is needed for the trial, and it doesn’t convert to a paid plan automatically. Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or annually, at the prices shown on our pricing page. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time; changes take effect at the next billing cycle. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable.

4. Your content

Everything you bring into layernote (projects, comments, files, designs, and the sites you review) stays yours. You give us the limited licence we need to store, display, and process that content to run the service: for example rendering screenshots of a page you review or running the AI comparison you asked for. We don’t use your content to train machine-learning models.

You’re responsible for having the rights to the content you upload and the sites you point layernote at.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • review or scan sites you have no permission to access;
  • upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or malicious;
  • probe, overload, or disrupt the service or its infrastructure;
  • resell or white-label the service without our written consent.

6. Third-party services

layernote connects to services you choose to link, such as Figma, or coding agents over MCP such as Claude Code and Cursor. Those services have their own terms, and we’re not responsible for them. A connection only does what you set it up to do, and you can disconnect it at any time.

7. Availability and support

We work hard to keep layernote fast and available, but the service is provided “as is” without uptime guarantees unless your plan includes a separate service-level agreement. We may briefly interrupt the service for maintenance and will schedule that outside peak hours where we can.

8. Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for claims arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We’re not liable for indirect damages such as lost profits or lost data, except where caused by our intent or gross negligence. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms, after notice where that’s reasonable. After termination we delete your content within 30 days, except where we must keep it to meet a legal obligation.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product and the law evolve. For material changes we’ll notify you by email or in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using layernote after that, the new terms apply.

11. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by Dutch law, and disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer law says otherwise. Questions about these terms? Email info@layernote.io.
