Upload files

Upload the cut. Share one link. Every note lands on its moment.

01Upload the video

Create a Static files project and upload the cut. MP4, MOV and WebM play right away; ProRes, HEVC and MKV are converted first.

02Click to comment

Switch the toolbar to Comment and click the video. It pauses, and the pin lands on that frame at that moment.

03Share one link

Reviewers open the link, type a name and start commenting. No account and no seat, on every plan.

Notes that know their moment. Nothing for reviewers to install.

On the exact frame

Every comment carries its time and a screenshot of the frame, so nobody has to write “at about 1:14” in an email.

Over a whole shot

Drag the handles on the timeline to stretch a comment from 0:12 to 0:19. It shows while that stretch plays.

Draw on the frame

Box, Ring, Line, Arrow, Pen and Marker sit in the comment form. The drawing stays on its frame, with the comment.

ProRes, HEVC and MKV too

A video no browser plays as uploaded is converted first. You can comment once it is ready.

Frame by frame

Step one frame with the comma and period keys, loop a shot, or play it at 0.5x to 2x.

A new cut, a new version

Upload the next cut as a new version of the same file. Comments stay on the cut they were made on.

Timeline

Every comment on the timeline.

Each reviewer’s face sits above the timeline at the moment of their comment. Where comments would overlap they turn into a count, and its card lists them all.

  • Hover a face to read the comment without moving the playhead.
  • Click a face to jump to its moment.
  • Space plays and pauses. The frame holds while you write.

Plans and limits

  • Storage: 25 GB on Solo, 100 GB on Studio, 250 GB on Team
  • Reviewers are free on every plan, without an account
  • Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial, no credit card needed

A tool where reviewers comment on a video at the moment they mean, instead of writing timestamps in an email. In layernote a reviewer clicks the video, it pauses, and the comment lands on that frame with its time and a screenshot of the frame.

No. Reviewers open the project through a share link, type a name and start commenting. They need no account and take no seat, on every plan.

Yes. While you write, drag the handles on the timeline to stretch the comment over a part of the video, from 0:12 to 0:19 for example. The comment shows while that stretch plays.

MP4, MOV and WebM in the usual codecs play right away. ProRes, HEVC, MKV, AVI, MXF and other formats are converted first so they play in every browser; you can comment once the video is ready.

Up to 100 MB per video on Solo and 250 MB on Studio and Team. Storage is 25 GB on Solo, 100 GB on Studio and 250 GB on Team.

Upload it as a new version of the same file from the version menu beside its name. Comments stay on the cut they were made on, and the older cuts are a click away.

Reviewers are free on every plan. For your own team, every plan starts with a 14-day free trial, no credit card needed. After that Solo is $19 a month, flat.

Because feedback shouldn’t be the hard part.
