Plans and limits
What Solo, Studio and Team include, the limits per plan, and how trials, seats and reviewers work.
layernote has three plans. They differ in how many projects, workspaces and people you can have, and in which features are switched on. Reviewers who join through a share link are free on every plan.

Projects are counted per workspace, and archived projects don't count. When a limit is reached, layernote tells you at the moment you try to create the extra project, workspace or member, and nothing existing is removed.
Upload limits
Static file projects and attachments accept images and PDFs. The size of a single file is capped per plan:

Supported image formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF and SVG. Storage in the table above is the total across every workspace you own, whoever on your team uploaded the file; screenshots that layernote takes for comments count toward it too.
Seats and reviewers
Two kinds of people use a project, and only one of them takes a seat:
- Team members are invited into a workspace by email as Owner, Admin or Member. They see every project in the workspace and count toward the team members limit of the plan.
- Reviewers open a project through a share link. They need no account and no seat, on every plan. A client with five people commenting on a project costs nothing extra.
Feature entitlements follow the project owner's workspace. If a Studio workspace invites you into its project, you can run design comparison there even if your own workspace is on Solo.
Trials and billing
Every new account starts with a 14-day free trial. layernote emails you seven days and again three days before the trial ends, so nothing expires by surprise. Pick a plan from Settings, Billing at any time during or after the trial.
Billing runs through Stripe. Monthly plans renew every month; annual plans are paid up front at the discounted rate and renew yearly. Invoices and the payment method are managed from the same billing page.
Changing plans
- Upgrading takes effect immediately. You pay the difference for the rest of the billing period right away.
- Downgrading takes effect at the end of the current billing period. If the workspace exceeds the limits of the smaller plan, for example more projects or members than Solo allows, layernote guides you through what to archive or remove before the change goes through.
- Moving to Solo keeps the folders you have, but new folders need Studio or Team. The board view goes away; every comment keeps its status.
