Layernote keeps you informed about activity across your workspace with real-time in-app notifications and email alerts. Never miss a comment, mention, or important update.

In-app notifications

The notification bell in the header shows your unread notification count. Click it to open the notification panel, where you can see all recent activity. Notifications appear instantly — powered by real-time WebSocket updates — so you are notified the moment something happens.

From the notification panel you can:

• Click a notification to navigate directly to the relevant project or annotation.
• Mark individual notifications as read, or mark all as read at once.
• Delete notifications you no longer need.

Notification types

Layernote sends notifications for the following events:

• Comments — When someone comments on an annotation in a project you are part of. Multiple comments in quick succession are bundled into a single notification.
• Mentions — When someone @mentions you in an annotation or comment.
• Workspace invitations — When you are invited to join a workspace.
• Payment issues — When there is a problem with your subscription payment.
• Subscription changes — When your subscription status changes.

Email notifications

In addition to in-app alerts, layernote can send email notifications for key events. You choose which events trigger an email from your notification preferences. Email is available for comments, mentions, workspace invitations, payment issues, and trial expiration warnings.

Customizing notifications

You have full control over which notifications you receive. Go to your account settings to toggle each notification type on or off — separately for in-app and email. See Account and billing for details on notification preferences.
